Cityscapes are created through levels of adding and subtracting fiber-reactive dyes to commercial printed cotton fabrics. The pre-printed fabrics provide nondescript visual texture in the background as heavy thread sketching brings the details of the architecture to life. The density or sparseness of the stitching, combined with batting between the layers, lends itself to additional subtleties or perspectives. Metallic threads and Angelina fibers add highlights of shimmer, shifting the image as your viewpoint changes.
